December brings us the lovely Sylvan Knights as the main release but also the equally fantastic Greatbear Goblins that I have been personally voting for for a while now.
An ancient and noble order of High Alfar which embodies the spirit of chivalry and coexistence with nature. To achieve the title of Sylvan Knight and earn the precious Sylverite armor and weapons, an Alfar battle-bard must perform great deeds that deserve to be sung in epic ballads. The Sylvan knights are ferocious protectors of nature and sworn enemies of the Tyrant-God, who never lose their grace and finesse even in the most desperate battles. Feralia the Stag, paragon of light and heroine of her people, lost her limbs fighting with the Ashen Ones ages ago. Through druidical magic and master craftsmanship, Kivael the enchanter and the greatest Alfar smiths managed to regenerate her limbs in renforced Sylvanbark, letting her to lead her people once again to protect the forest, with even more vigor and strenght. Taming the royal Stags of the enchanted woods and with the aid of the Forest Primordial, the Sylvan Knights are among the most dangerous enemies of the Forces of Resistance. Our 3d printable figures come with ball-jointed wrists and various weapon options and hands for infinite customization.
The noble Dragonguard is an ancient order of Dragonblood knights who swore allegiance to Ghaomir, the ancient and supreme Dragon-God. Once human, the spirits of the most valiant ancestors among the order had been infused with the sacred dragon’s blood, turning them into immortal creatures of great might and wisdom. Among the most acclaimed heroes of this order of knights, the skalds still sings about the wise leader Scramax the Battlemage; and the brutal “one man army” Nasmaraax the Destroyer, killer of wyverns, a mighty barbarian of disproportionate dimensions feral as a raging Dragon. Hundreds of years ago, during the epic battle for the city of Torm, the Dragonguard and the Fighter’s Guild fought valiantly against the forces of Tialevor and his army of Soulless and Ashen Alfar. Even the legendary Dragon Ornithaax, son of the Dragon-God Ghaomir, took part in the battle, decimating the ranks of the current Tyrant-God. In the age of ashes, the Dragonguard order lives in total seclusion, awaiting the resurrection of the revered Ghaomir to oust the God-Tyrant from his throne.
Getting back ontop of the new releases from Artisan Guild and we’ve got a brilliant one today. The Rakshakin Headhunter and Djinn. Also the start of the new modular Cavalry options that Artsian Guild are starting to release.
With the inclusion of the Elegoo Saturn into my workflow I have been able to re-structure my pricing system which has resulted in lower prices across the board for this release compared to other releases.
I will be running all the previous resin releases through the new formula but this will take time. So for now I am going to leave the 20% off voucher active for all resin products that have not been re-priced and I will work through re-pricing the back catalogue as fast as I can.
Worshipers of the ancient Shapeshifter God Melmor, the Kobolds are ignoble lizard-dog horned demons who move around hopping on two legs. These short wicked monsters infest mines by stealing precious minerals and replacing it with toxic ones in order to spread the plague of their god. Cities with sewage systems are teeming with these evil and keen beings. Adventurers should never underestimate Kobolds: their innate abilities to brew potent poisons, stab and hide could catch even the most veteran soldiers off guard.
A big stepping stone in the production capacity of Monstrous Makings has been reached with the arrival of the Elegoo Saturn. Pre-Ordered in the first batch available, on the 6th June, I managed to score one of the rare Early Birds and then the waiting game was on. Elegoo had their fair share of troubles with the fulfilment but they kept us up to date with how things were going and I patiently waited for the dispatch notice.
My printer left the Elegoo factory on 28th August and a tense few weeks went by as I waited for it to arrive at the local warehouse, then on Tuesday I got the email saying it had been booked with the local courier for delivery and it arrived this morning.
I got too excited to do any kind of unboxing so I got straight onto setup and printing. The setup guide was straight forward and after making sure I could get the lid off the printer where is was going I cracked on with levelling. The process was very straight forward and in less than 15 mins I was loading up the first print. I always test each new printer with the same model, Hildara Bloodrage, she’s short and sliced at 50 microns, making for a fast print, and packed with detail. It also gives me a nice comparison with each new printer.
2:45 later and she’s all finished and ready for cleanup. Here are some shots of her with the supports on after a wash, supports removed (but no other post processing), and a light coat of Army Painter Grey Primer (still no other post processing)
First impressions are very good, with very little noticable layer lines and the larger build plate triples the capacity of the Sonic Mini next to it. I’m a very happy troll right now.
So to celebrate I will be offering a 20% discount on all SLA printed products. The discount will be automatically applied to each applicable product.
Which will you build first? The heroic M.U.S. Ranger with their detachable tail-taser? Or perhaps the dastardly W.A.S.P. Drone, a flying menace with fully loaded stingers? Maybe you want to see what happens when you combine both sets of components to create some kind of monstrosity?
Whatever you decide and however you want to play, Rift Rodents are an exciting collaboration between Monstrous Makings and TIPPOM toys that brings you classic action figure vibes mixed with a slick new retro themed brand.
The future is bright for the Rift Rodents, with a huge range of characters currently in development. Not only this, but TIPPOM are working with other great designers to further the brand through music, comic books and animation!
Get ready Rift jumpers, we are about to drop the first ever wave of Rift Rodents action figures. Shipped in a labelled bag ready for construction, you will receive detailed 3D printed components with cast polyurethane pegs to connect everything together. These two extremely limited characters are available to buy as a bundle from 21:00 GMT tonight, exclusively on the Monstrous Makings store.
The ‘Troubles in Tavern’ set are an expanding set of ‘Heroes’ to mark milestones in Artisan Guild’s Patreon following. The latest hero, Gyros Shipwrecker has just been released and Artisan Guild have teased some details about the last 2(3) in the set.
At 7000 Patrons Artisan Guild will be releasing the following models to complete the set. In their own words here are the descriptions of Tino Kobold-Bane and Gnish & Gnosh
Tino Kobold-Bane, is inspired by our great personal trainer and friend Tino Rinderknecht. He will be the classic barbarian wielding a huge claymore. Will you unlock him in time to get rid of the Kobold who will infest our Patreon next month?
Gnish & Gnosh, two crazy gnomes! They will probably also get the name of “Double Trouble”, it works so well with the Troubles in Tavern line! This model will be a combination of two gnomes one on top of the other. The craziest one on the top, Gnish, will be throwing alchemical explosive concoctions like there’s no tomorrow. Gnosh, the stronger and growler brother, will be charging enemies from the bottom with a chained flail and shield. We are really in love with this character, and will stick to the concept we made as much as possible, with Gnish accidentally stamping the eye of the poor Gnosh.
Artisan Guild have continued revisiting their older releases to bring them up the spec with the newer one.
This time it was the Orc Barbarians that got a makeover. There are 2 extra bodies for the Modular Orc and Greatweapon Orcs along with many extra modular weapons. Throgar also gets his chance to ride Gorefang and the new Orc Warshrine is the perfect centre piece to your Orc encampment. The heroes also get modular ball joints so they can be equiped with a variety of other weapons too.
August’s release from Artisan Guild are the fantastic Eye-Cult Gryphkin. They are as always phenominal sculpts that would be perfect for a number of Dungeons and Dragons race like Aarakocra and Kenku which are so often underrepresented in model ranges.
The Legendary Arcanix is a huge model that is worthy of being an Epic Boss in its own right.
Once a cult of humans, the Gryphkins are the legendary people of the sky, often living in sacred or unholy place far away from the rest of the world. Their appearance and skill depends on where their eggs had been laid. The noble High-Gryphkin of the Cult of the Eye protects the Eye of Tialevor from the lust of sorcerers and Kings on the peak of the Wyvern Mountains. The eggs laid in the realms of mortals generate wingless Gryphkin, smaller, but skilled in the art of shadow manipulation, espionage and murder. In the Cult of the Eye both forms are essential to keep the Eye safe and at the same time protect the world from its endless corruption, but It would seem that the evil influence of the Eye has slowly turned his jailers into his… thralls.
